Weekly media reports
A service open to all members, the NEW-IG weekly media reports are sent by the Secretariat every Friday morning. They contain an overview of the main FCH news of the past week in the world and blogosphere.
Report 5 September- 10 September
It was a busy week for FCH! Two clear public commitments from the industry in support of FCH: a “memorandum of understanding” was signed in Berlin by 8 major companies to demonstrate their commitment in achieving a proliferation of hydrogen fueling stations in Germany and parallel to this, 8 car manufacturers made public a joint statement promising to achieving a significant amount of fuel cell cars to be commercialised. All by 2015.
In the UK, the Government announced an investment of £9 million in FCH and the development of a "hydrogen highway" in Scotland.
It pales in comparison to the above, but I’d still like to call your attention to the interesting blog article on “Hydrogen fueling station cooperatives: How to build the hydrogen fueling stations without the oil companies or the federal government”. Read complete report and see news links...
Report 31 August - 6 September
In the past week, the leading news piece across several countries was the launching of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-CELL but we’ve also picked up broad interest in the a new method of recycling hydrogen-containing fuel materials and South Korea’s first landfill-powered hydrogen station.
I also call your attention to the two articles originated in the US about patents: not only are fuel cells leading the US patents market but a Hydra Fuel Cell patent was just voted the top Patent for 2008. A special mention to the blog article “A Streetcar Named Desire and Hydrogen Fuel Cells” on H2-fueled city trams. Read complete report and see news links...
